Betong Clock Tower, Yala: A Long-standing Landmark of the Town
The Betong Clock Tower is a symbol of the town, having stood proudly in the heart of Betong for many years. Constructed from marble sourced in Yala, it has become an iconic structure in the area. One of the unique aspects of the tower is the large number of swallows that perch on the power lines surrounding it. These swallows, numbering in the thousands, flock to the area, especially from September to March, migrating from Siberia to escape the cold.
There is a local belief in Betong that if a person is hit by swallow droppings near the clock tower, they are destined to return to Betong soon. The Betong Clock Tower also serves as a central point in the town, located at the intersection of Sukyang Road and Rattanakij Road.
For those visiting at night, the tower becomes even more captivating as it lights up beautifully, casting a radiant glow. The clock tower at night offers a picturesque view, perfect for capturing the nighttime charm of Betong. It's one of the must-see attractions that adds to the unique allure of the town.
